Hi! So, a few changes.
With the way the mod team is doing, we have to change a few things, by which I mostly mean scaling down. So no more monthly challenges, and no more tweets or discord announcements (past one for this of course).
Below is a draft dump of what we had planned so far. The exchange thing and the custom banner thing obviously don’t apply anymore. Feel free to count the rest as official or not, however you want.
Next year is a bit of a question mark, tbh. I know I (Anna) am stepping dow, and either someone jumps in as main mod and takes over, or we leave it be. If you’d be interested please let us know! We still have all the planning notes and everything, if that can help. Otherwise, this has been a lot of fun. Thanks for playing with us!
Love,
Anna
May challenge:

Ask the cover artist: behind the cover
Take one of your covers, WIP or finished, and tell us a little about your process!
And actually, here are some similar stuff: Lavenderfrost’s Behind the cover series, Kess’s Podfic Journal, Yue_ix and Annapods’ notes for a collaborative cover, Justaphage’s cover art process video, Annapods’ cover art process video, DrFumblesMcStupid’s tutorial. No obligation to make it that long, obviously!
Art history: mosaic
A mosaic is a pattern or image made of small regular or irregular pieces of colored stone, glass or ceramic, held in place by plaster/mortar, and covering a surface. Did you know some are dated to the second half of the 3rd millennium BCE?? Nowadays, you mostly hear about it when looking for arts and crafts projects, but in a way, isn’t the pavement a mosaic? What about pixel art?

June challenge:

Ask the cover artist: “What can I do?”
At the very end of the FAQ, there’s a section called “What are you doing to address your own ingrained prejudices? What can I do?” with a few resources on the topic. Could we flesh it out a little? Any readings or tools you’d recommend, any questions to think about?
Art history: sketch
A sketch is a rapidly executed freehand drawing that is not usually intended as a finished work. But that doesn’t mean it can’t be! For examples of sketches, look at the works of Vincent van Gogh, the Urban Sketchers, or whoever did the illustrations for this tutorial. Does that look too serious? Here are 5 drawing excercices, and an online sketchpad just in case you can’t find that old Etch A Sketch.

July challenge:

August challenge:

Ask the cover artist: pimp your cover!
Yes this is totally an excuse for a love fest. Show us one (or several) of your favorite covers of yours and tell us what you love about them!
Art history: embroidery
September challenge:

Ask the cover artist: a style of one’s own
Do you have a "style" or "theme"? How would you describe it?
OR meta?
Art history: manuscript
A manuscript is, traditionally, any document that is written by hand. While the words are the things that make them manuscripts, they are usually accompanied by pictures, and have unique styles.
October challenge and feedback:

Ask the cover artist: check-in
Tell us how it’s going! How’s your card looking? Are you on track? What are you learning? What’s fun, what isn’t? And most importantly, what would you suggest for next year’s round?
Yes, this is us asking for concrit! (That you can also give us on twitter or however else.) What do/did you like about this bingo round, what do/did you not like so much? How can we make it even more fun for you next year?
Btw, it’s time to start thinking positively, because we’re going to ask you about your achievements soon > >
Art history: sculpture
Sculpture is, to put it simply, three-dimensional art. It dates all the way back to the Stone Age, possibly as early as 230,000 BCE! There are butter sculptures, welded sculptures, and far too many other types of sculptures to list here!
As always, how you interpret this theme is up to you! Use any material(s) you like!
Prize claims:
This is, sadly, the end of this year’s round. So. Reached your goals? Reached some goals? Did something? Want a banner? :D
Below are the generic ones we have so far. Please request custom ones with names and/or specific achievements in the replies!
